this recipe post has a few warnings:
first off, if you decide to make this please read all the way through. i messed up so its a “do as i say” post.
it is by no means food porn (unless you’re into this kinda thing) because it’s meatballs and its brown and sloppy.
i curse like a sailor(if you’re under 18 go directly to pbskids.org)
um, its fattening?
Ok, the stroganoff we grew up with is a little more like semi homemade hamburger helper. in other words, its fucking delicious! this recipe isn’t much different…
first order of business is the meatballs. i hate to say it, but i am a master at meatballs. they are fan-fucking-tastic.
in a bowl i add:
1/2 green pepper, diced
about 1/4-1/2 cup parmesan cheese
1 clove garlic, grated
a pound of ground beef or ground turkey
about a cup or so of fresh breadcrumbs. use about 2 day old hotdog buns in a food processor and then throw half of it in the trash because this recipe only needs about 1 hotdog bun. then there is drama…
this hotdog bun had some vegetarians and they were all, “i’m not going into a fucking meatball” i wasn’t in the mood to deal with hippies so i threw them in the trash with the extra crumbs. i am extremely rich so sometimes i just waste food because i can…
so, i think that’s all the ingredients. you just mush all that together until all incorporated and if you are nothing like me you can pre-make your meatballs so they are ready when you need them. i, however, do it last-minute because apparently i LOVE stress.
next you saute some onions and butter
medium onion, chopped
1/4 c.(half a stick) butter
i will let you figure out my mistake, but i guarantee mine was better than yours will be.
(ok, i’ll tell you. 1/4 cup and a 1/4 lb are 2 different things)
once that is all nice and soft and buttery and heart attack ready you add your meatballs…
i just put a lid on and let it cook at medium low heat for about 10 minutes…i think. just keep an eye on it.
add(sprinkle) 3T. flour, 1/2 t. salt, 1/8t. pepper and 1/4t. garlic powder to the meatballs and onion mixture and stir. then you will add 2 bouillon cubes(i crush them with my fingers) and a cup of water along with 1T. lemon juice.
add 1 cup of sour cream and the next step is VERY IMPORTANT…
you must drip a spoonful on the handle. i don’t know why, but it makes a HUGE difference!
and voila! well, then you try to scoop out half the butter when you realize your mistake. it’s hard so just eat it.
you can serve over rice or egg noodles(or eat it out of a bowl with a large spoon). i like the 2nd two options.
